 Mulberries have long been used in traditional Chinese medicine. The berry known as sang shen has been used by traditional Chinese medicine practitioners to nourish the blood, strengthen the kidneys and liver and treat weakness, fatigue, anemia, urinary incontinence, tinnitus, constipation and premature greying of the hair. Abundant in vitamins B, C, K, and iron, mulberries are also an excellent source of dietary fibre, protein, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium and riboflavin. Mulberries are also a source of resveratrol, an antioxidant also found in grapes and red wine. Resveratrol is well documented for its health giving properties.
